The White Easter
The White Easter
"Come now, let us argue it out, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white like snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."
The weather during Holy Week was cold that year. I glanced out the window where I worked and saw a few snowflakes falling. Not a fan of cold air or slick roadways, I sighed, "Snow? In spring?"
Later when I looked up from my work, I noticed the snow had increased. The weather had changed from intermittent flurries to a heavy snow fall. I saw large whirling flakes dancing through the air above a barren earth--wild, unexpected beauty that brought peace to my soul.
Holy Week didn't arrive that year with warm sunshine and cheerful birds. It arrived with snow--pure, white, clean--a fresh reminder that though our sins are like scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow. Jesus' death on the cross made that possible.
