Though We're But Dust

4th Day of Lenten Devotional Series

Psalm 103:13-14
As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him, for He knows how we are formed. He remembers that we are dust.

Is it worry or loneliness
that keeps you from falling asleep?
Do you try too hard
to maintain your image
or control what others might think?

Do you compare yourself to him or her
and envy the luxuries they own?
Do you hide in your pride,
lock your feelings inside,
or do you fear the unknown?

We all come from dust,
to dust we'll return;
God breathed life into bodies of clay.
He invites us to lay down
the weights that we carry
for we're not on this earth to stay.

So turn over your fear,
your hatred, or greed.
Give up your impatience or shame.
Though we're but dust,
though we're only ashes,
the Savior is calling our name.

Jesus, help us to look deeper inside ourselves this season and ask what you want to change in us. When we get consumed by things of this earth, remind us our time here is fleeting and help us focus on what's important. Amen.
