Finding Confidence
"We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." ~ Ephesians 2:10
I remember those high school and college years when all my friends were pairing up. Tammie met Brent. Adam proposed to Karrie. Mindy and John broke up but soon reunited. My high school relationship had ended, and being single in a sea of couples had become increasingly painful. I felt uncomfortable attending graduation parties with love-struck duos or wedding receptions where smiling couples filled the dance floor.
During that time, I often faced the dilemma of spending the weekend alone, away from the world of couples, or going solo to social functions. As difficult as it was, I pushed my single self out into the world, and a strange thing happened: I started gaining confidence in who I was without a significant other.
Finding confidence is important--and not only for those who are single. Discovering our individual worth can strengthen our relationships. Recognizing who we are as God's children allows us to enter relationships from a place of confidence instead of desperation.
What is one way you can focus more deeply on who you are in your current relation to God, no matter what your current relationship status is?
