I Give Up Anxiety
Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than them?
We live in a world that values people who seem to be on
top of everything, the best at everything, and everything to
everybody. When we are so focused on
getting ahead and doing more, we find ourselves consumed and smothered in worry
and anxiety. Homeowners sometimes
worry if the house is perfectly decorated or if each and every weed is pulled
from the flower garden. While on
one project, we often jump ahead to the next. This has become a way of life for many
of us. We take the minutes of each day
God has given and fill them with so much stress that we struggle to find time for our Father Himself.
This year for the season of
Lent, I want to simplify my life in such a way that I will spend
more time focusing on those I love and less time worrying about how much I can fill in my day with or what might go
wrong. I'll try to replace anxiety with joyous thoughts and ways to lift up someone else.
Thank you, Lord, for each
blessing you have given me. I know you
can help me with anxious, worrisome thoughts and help me be
better grounded in my faith that You can do all things. Amen.
